New Year Resolutions

Hi! I am sorry I have been gone. My Mom has not had time to type my posts for me but has said she would do it more often.

Eating healthy is good for your body. In 2011 one of my resolutions is to eat healthier. And that should be one of yours too!

Now here is one of my healthy recipes for you. I just made it yesterday for my family.

It is called: The Vegetable Mash Up

1. Cut up vegetables and saute them in a little olive oil or butter.  Vegetables can include: orange peppers, celery, mushrooms, carrots, cherry tomatoes, onions. (You can add a little water if you need it.) You can put in any vegetables that you like -- but try new ones. We did the vegetables listed here.
2. Add 2 cans of Low Sodium Chicken Broth and stir to a boil. Add some salt and pepper.
3. At the last minute add some avocado and it is ready to serve after you top it off with a little cilantro or parsley.

You could add noodles or rice if you feel like it.

Anyone can make it even kids. If  kids make it be sure a grown up helps stir over the stove. (This recipe is great for everyone.)

This soup is healthy and delicious. Hope you try it soon.

P.S. - One other important resolution should be to exercise and don't watch TV too much. Oh, and this is a picture of me eating the great soup.

Thanks for reading. Share with your friends. See you next time at Healthy Stuff with Jenny XO<3

ENERGY!

It is important that kids (and parents) keep up their ENERGY. Here are some things to think about.

Get Your Rest

If you have a certain bed time you CAN go to bed earlier than that -- everybody needs sleep so listen to your body.

Get Your Exercise

Do a sport! Keeping your body moving gives you energy. You could join a team or just go out and play everyday.

Eat Healthy

JUNK FOOD takes your energy away and healthy food gives you energy. To get energy from your food eat things like: pasta, beans, whole wheat bread, even fruits and vegetables.

Remember - junk food is BAD - it robs your energy and you can become lazy.

Ok, that is all I have for today.  That is Healthy Stuff from me.... Jenny!

Back to School Time

If you are bringing a lunch to school here are some healthy tips:

1. If you like mayonnaise and avocado then why don't you smash the avocado for the mayonnaise. It can replace the mayonnaise and it much healthier for you.
2. You can bring beans for a snack -- kidney beans, black beans, garbanzo beans, chick peas. Beans are HEALTHY. They have fiber, calcium and iron. All good for your body.
3. Ok, if you have a milk system in your cafeteria and you like chocolate milk and they have it and they have plain milk go with the plain milk rather than chocolate. It has WAY less sugar and is good for your bones, muscles and teeth.

Have fun at school. More to come. That is the healthy tip for today! Check for more tips next time at Healthy Stuff with me..... Jenny! Bye for now.
