Back to School Time

If you are bringing a lunch to school here are some healthy tips:

1. If you like mayonnaise and avocado then why don't you smash the avocado for the mayonnaise. It can replace the mayonnaise and it much healthier for you.
2. You can bring beans for a snack -- kidney beans, black beans, garbanzo beans, chick peas. Beans are HEALTHY. They have fiber, calcium and iron. All good for your body.
3. Ok, if you have a milk system in your cafeteria and you like chocolate milk and they have it and they have plain milk go with the plain milk rather than chocolate. It has WAY less sugar and is good for your bones, muscles and teeth.

Have fun at school. More to come. That is the healthy tip for today! Check for more tips next time at Healthy Stuff with me..... Jenny! Bye for now.

  1. Good job, Jenny! I am a nurse and I think it is very important for kids to eat healthy foods at school! You will have lots of energy to learn new things and to play during recess. Have you ever tried hummus? It is garbanzo beans and lemon juice and garlic all mashed up together. You can bring veggies to dip in it!

  2. Wow, I can't believe someone wrote to me! Thanks.

I do put hummus on my sandwiches sometimes. It is delicious.

I like roasted red pepper hummus.

Oh and thanks for the recipe. I am going to try to make it this weekend with my Mom.
